How to Adjust Your New Puppy to Your Home

Your new puppy is finally home, and the air is full of excitement as everyone receives the new family member. Unfortunately, the puppy may not ride in the excitement as everyone else. It has just parted with the only humans it knew – its mother and siblings. So, why would it be happy anyway?

However, there are several ways to make the puppy adapt to its new surroundings without making it feel confused. Of course, you’d want it to explore the house the first day, but that’s too fast. It needs some time to get used to its new surroundings.

Here are a few tips to help you adjust your new puppy to your home.

Introduce It To The Family

The puppy is going to have new family members, and, therefore, it needs to know everyone around it. The best way to get it to know all the family members is to let them meet one person at a time. In this way, it will be able to remember each of the members introduced to it. While this may not be easy with all the excitement about the new family member, try and give the puppy a chance to meet each family member separately.

Identify a Potty Spot

You obviously don’t want to meet the poop wherever you go. So, you’d like your new friend to have a specific potty area. Could be you’ve already chosen a potty spot, or you remember this when you arrive with the puppy home. Whichever the case, just make sure your new friend knows where to relieve itself. Start by taking it to the designated spot where you want it to go potty. If it does relieve itself, try to use a command that you’ll remember, like “poop” and remember to shower praises on it.

Let It Know Its New Home

You’ve already puppy-proofed an area in your house where you’ll bring your new friend, right? Well, this is where you should bring the new puppy immediately it arrives home. Most people think they should let the puppy loose to explore the home, but that’s not the right thing to do. The puppy may just get confused in the process. Therefore, instead of introducing it to the entire house, let it explore the puppy proof spot in the house. You can then introduce it to the rest of the rooms, one at a time while skipping the no-go-zones.

Chew Toys For The Puppy

Puppies love chewing a lot. Therefore, to keep them distracted from the changes in the environment, give it something to chew. If you don’t do this, they may start chewing anything they come across. We’ve got safe puppy chew toys that you can give to your new friend. So, as part of your preparation for the new puppy, make sure you get it enough chew toys. Again, make sure you direct them to their chew toys anytime they want to chew anything else.

Take It To Its Sleeping Space

Your puppy needs to sleep for about 15 to 20 hours a day. While they can just drop anywhere and take a nap, it’s always good to have a designated sleeping area for them. So, how do you train him on where to sleep? This should be very easy. Just time the puppy when it seems ready for a nap and bring it to its bed or crate. With time, it will get used to its new sleeping place and you won’t have to drag it there anymore.

Start Enforcing Rules

Are there some habits you won’t tolerate? Make the puppy aware of this. It’s not too early to let them know the don’ts. But of course, don’t yell at it or punish it. You’ll only frighten the puppy and it won’t learn what’s intended for it. Instead, redirect it gently and let it know the behaviors you don’t like. So, how can you achieve this? It’s very simple. Just praise the good behaviors and deflect the intolerable ones. In this way, the puppy will get to know the behaviors that are unacceptable and avoid them.

As you make your new puppy adapt to its new environment, try to take things slowly. Learning is a process, and, therefore, they may not get it all at once. So, be patient with it.

5 Design Tips for an Awesome and Organized Kid’s Playroom

How To Create A Kids’ Space With Design In Mind

Your ultimate kids’ playroom should guarantee fun to your little ones and give them an unforgettable experience in their early days of life. After all, this is the stage where their memories and imaginations should go wild.

But this doesn’t mean the whole space should be in an endless state of a terrible mess. Who said fun and organization cannot go together, after all? While a few storage solutions may help you organize the playroom space, here are the top 5 ways to combine style and storage in one place to give you kids the best experience.

How To Create A Kids’ Space With Design In Mind

1. Organize with Bright Colors

A proper organization using bright colors is key to creating an awesome playroom that your kids will not only adore but also enjoy playing in. Brighten up space by painting the walls using your kids’ favorite colors, an underwater theme or a hand-drawn design to further accentuate the space.

Going with neutral colors is never a bad idea either, especially if you are looking to accentuate a modern-day playroom or if you aren’t totally keen to mix bold colors in your room. And with neutral colors, don’t forget to include bright pillows or rugs to wow the interior space.

2. Use Wall Decals

Kids will naturally change their interests, styles, and activities over time and you can’t blame them for that. It is the normal growth and developmental process.

So, if you’re unwilling to commit to a given theme or color design just yet, the modern, stick-on wall decals might just be the right solution. These options allow you to create a cool playroom for your kids without having to worry about a specific color design or style.

3. Consider an Easy-to-Clean Flooring

Children are naturally messy which makes it all the more imperative to opt for flooring that won’t give you trouble cleaning or renovating. Going with wooden floors is a smart decision for rooms that are susceptible to stains.

But it would be nice to opt for a flooring idea that’s easy to maintain even when working on a tight budget. To this extent, foam flooring seems the most ideal option. These floor types are not only easy-to-clean but also fun to add comfort and color designs to your room. And the best part? Your kids will like it.

4. Include Toy Cabinets

Adding toy cabinets is one of the smartest playroom ideas you can adopt for your kids. Why? It enables them to display some of their best toys hassle-free while at the same time giving them easy access to their favorite games, books or even playsets.

Kids are fantastic beings but are also young, impatient souls and the last thing you want to subject them to is to make them spend countless hours digging through boxes in the closet in search of their favorite toys.

5. Include Comfortable Seating

Your kids’ playroom isn’t just a normal playing space. And it doesn’t have to be so complicated either. Fun is key when designing a kids’ playroom but comfort is just as important. Regardless of the playroom design that you adopt, don’t forget to include a comfy seating that’s easy to set up.

The key here is to keep everything simple by including a few bean bags chairs and other fun pieces such as a couch or floor cushions.

For all their characteristics, kids deserve the best playroom space that’s designed with their needs in mind. It’s plain to see that there is not a single design idea that’s right or wrong for everybody. And even some of the best tips are not a one size fits all solution. So, choose a method that will work for your room and give your kids the memorable experience they are craving for in their childhood.
